Our teamname was the only good thing about the quiz to be honest

Our teamname was the only good thing about the quiz to be honest

I want to forget about it, but I also want to write about it. We played with our Intermania bunch and I really expected us to do well. I mean, I had the idea we would know a lot of stuff. But we finished second last and didn’t even correctly spell ‘applaudisseren’, which is quite shameful for people that make a magazine. And we didn’t know a shitload of stuff. I mean, it’s supposed to be trivia in a quiz like that, so people with no lives that press random article on wikipedia should do good, but I kinda had the idea we were people that do exactly that. But yeah, we didn’t. A hard lesson in modesty, something that might be good for us.

Ah well, one of my illusions just got destroyed… Or maybe we were just smarter than that pubquiz! At least we had the best name…

City trip to Utrecht

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

DSC_0039Last Saturday some people who wanted to do a city trip to Utrecht invited me to come along. I’ve never really been to Utrecht, so I decided to tag along. With me and Bart being almost complete strangers to Utrecht and the other two being foreign students, Bart had to call one of his friends and have her lead us around Utrecht. Which worked out perfectly.

Actually, Utrecht is quite nice. I knew a bit of it, since I’ve been to some parties near the oude gracht, but also during daytime and without too much alcohol, the atmosphere is good. It was a bit hard for me to take pictures, because every time I tried I lost the four others whom I maybe should warn in advance in the future. But still, I made a couple of them, check them out in the gallery: Trip to Utrecht and finals Nootuitgang.

Burton Tack JacketBut in the end, when you visit new cities you have to spend some time shopping. I have been looking for a summer coat for ages in Eindhoven, walked into and out of every shop at least three times and didn’t find a thing. But in Utrecht I found a good coat quite easy which I bought right away.
After all the strolling, we had way too much dinner in some Greek restaurant. And we spent some time watching ‘the Hot Stewards” at some festival we strolled into. Apparently it was the last show of festival aan de werf. And it was actually quite nice, with some weird mashups of Whitney Houston like numbers over rock music. I really don’t know what to think about it, but before I was able to form a definite judgment, we had to go back to Eindhoven because of lack of time and surplus of rain.

DSC_0076In Eindhoven we were supposed to visit the finals of ‘Nootuitgang’, a Dutch singer/songwriter contest. Of course we took too much time in Utrecht, so when we got back it was already the last performance. Luckily enough, it were the winners doing their winning song one last time. So we have seen the best out there, which is nice. Afterparty lasted for a bit with Michael and Rik shredding it up with some horrible, horrible beats. And some horrible, horrible remixes…

A Saturday well spent, I’d say.

Boemklatsch!

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

DSC_0005Yesterday was the time for partying in Amsterdam, something that was long due. You can only go that long without proper parties can’t you?
Michael organised a small barbecue in Amsterdam’s Oosterpark to start everything off. Leaving Eindhoven by train and going to that barbecue, were our only responsibilities. Finding a group of around 25 people barbecueing on a field where there are lots of groups of around 25 people barbecueing was tough, but worked out in the end. Having succeeded meant we did not have to do anything anymore, so we let the yummy goodnesses, shaped like beer, meat and other delights, roll in.

DSC_0035But all good things come to an end, only to be replaced by other good things. So after a small ice cream munching, our click headed off for the Bitterzoet to be at the latest boemklatsch party. At this party a mix EP by C-Code and Mike Mago would be released, which is downloadable @ www.bmkltschrcrds.com.

The party was great, sadly enough not that many pictures, because of the consumed amount of alcohol. Party was great though. Nice amount of people, nice vibe on the dancefloor and great music.

Welcome

Welcome to marrk.nl. It is currently under construction, since I just got the domain and have still to do some exams. Within some time I will be hosting pictures and whatnot.
